천유경 작가는 불안을 내재한 인물을 그린다. 그림 속에 등장하는 인물은 불안한 눈빛을 지닌 고독한 존재이다. 작품에는 반려견, 반려묘 동물이 등장하기도 한다. 불안한 인간이 동물을 통해서 마음에 위안을 삼는 것처럼 보인다. 인물의 공통점은 생각에 잠겨 있는 진지한 표정, 불안을 고민하는 표정, 무표정하고 무뚝뚝한 진지한 모습들이다. 그림 속 인물은 북유럽에 사는 16세부터 25세 나이대로 상상해 본다. 만일 그림 속 인물이 영혼을 가졌다면, 사각 캔버스 안에 갇힌 자신의 실존을 고민했을 것이다. 마치 시간과 공간의 틀에 갇혀 살다가 세상을 떠나는 우리의 실존에 대한 고민처럼. 작품 속 인물들은 아주 작은 눈, 명암이 들어간 뭉뚝한 코, 꾹 다문 입술로 구성되어 있고, 진진한 모습을 표현하기 위해서 눈썹을 그리지 않는다. 작품 제목으로 정원과 숲이라는 단어가 사용된다. 작가는 자신이 만든 숲속에서 주인공 인물이 안식을 갖게 하는 것 같다. 숲은 작가 자신의 내면 세계의 모습이고, 인물은 불안을 인지한 작가의 자아인 것이다. 인물 뒤 배경은 간결하고 대담하게 표현하면서, 연한 파스텔톤 색을 사용해서 인물의 표정에 집중하게 만든다.

Cheon yugyeong paints figures with inherent anxiety. The figures in her paintings are lonely beings with anxious eyes. In some of her works, dogs and cats appear. It seems that anxious humans find solace in animals. What the figures have in common is a serious expression of thoughtfulness, a look of anxiety, and an expressionless, blunt seriousness. I imagine them to be between the ages of 16 and 25, living in Northern Europe. If they had souls, they would be contemplating their existence in a square canvas. Just like our existence as we live and die in the confines of time and space. The figures in the work are composed of very small eyes, blunt noses with contrasting colors, tightly pressed lips, and no eyebrows to express seriousness. The title of the work uses the words garden and forest. The artist seems to be letting the main character rest in the forest he has created. The forest is a representation of the artist's own inner world, and the figure is the artist's self who recognizes his anxiety. The background behind the figure is simple and bold, and the use of light pastel colors draws attention to the figure's expression.

불안과 외로움으로 가득 찬 날들이 있었습니다. 주변을 바라보지 못하고 상처를 받을까 봐 두려워하며 혼자 있던 날들도 있었습니다.

이 캐릭터는 표정이 무감각하며 행복하지도 슬프지도 않습니다. 자신의 감정을 표현하지 않는 순간들을 많이 겪었고, 자신의 슬픔은 슬프지 않다고 자주 정당화해 왔습니다.

그는 자신의 표현을 읽히지 않게, 다가오지 않게, 상처 받지 않게 자신을 방어해야 했던 날들을 되돌아보기 시작했습니다.

이제 그의 숲, 남이 들어오는 것을 두려워했던 곳, 당신의 따뜻함으로 가득 차 있습니다. 그의 닫혀있던 숲은 천천히 열리고 있습니다.

그들을 위해 할 수 있는 일은 이제 그들이 그의 세계에서 행복하게 존재할 수 있도록 그들을 자신의 공간에 두고, 영원히 함께 나눈 따뜻함의 기억 속에서 살아갈 수 있기를 희망하는 것입니다.

어둠으로 가득한 길이라 하더라도 달빛은 항상 우리에게 비추고 있습니다. 지금도 달빛은 제 곁에 있어 길을 볼 수 있게 도와주고 있습니다.

 There were days filled with anxiety and loneliness. There were days when I was on edge, unable to look at my surroundings, afraid of being hurt, making myself alone. The character's expression is impassive, neither happy nor sad. I've gone through many moments of not showing my emotional ups and downs, and I've repeatedly rationalized to myself that my sadness isn't sad, that I need time alone sometimes. I began by reflecting on the days when I had to defend myself so that he couldn't read my expression, so that he couldn't come near me, so that I wouldn't be hurt. My forest, where I was afraid of intruders, is now filled with the warmth of your presence. My closed forest is slowly opening up. All I can do for them now is to let them stay in my space, and hope that they can exist happily in my world forever, and if not forever, at least forever in the memory of the warmth we shared together. Even if the road is full of darkness, the moonlight is always shining on us. Even now, the moonlight is by my side so that I can see my way.
