패니 브로더는 노르웨이 오슬로 태생으로, 뉴욕에서 자라 The Art Institute of Bostone에서 일러스트레이션 전공으로 석사 학위를 취득했다. 작가 스스로 자신의 작업이 일러스트레이션에 많은 기반을 두고 있다고 이야기하며, 일본 만화에서 영향을 받았다고도 설명한다. 작가는 대체로 어린 시절의 기억을 기반으로 작업하며, 색깔도 화려하게 사용한다. 배경은 꽃, 무지개, 패턴 등을 사용하고, 작업하면서 떠오르는 문장들을 텍스트로 써넣기도 한다. 작가는 스스로를 ‘양봉가’라고 칭하면서, 종종 꽃과 작은 괴물들을 작품에 포함시킨다. 요가와 명상이 작가의 취미인데, 이러한 취미 활동과 수련의 과정에서 느낀점을 엮어내면서, 작가 꿈꿔왔던 또 다른 세계적이고 마술적인 장소를 캔버스 내에 구현한다. 작가는 캔버스 내에서, 매우 불교적인 방식으로 자연을 돌본다고 설명한다. 현재는 미국 뉴잉글랜드 주 Maine 지역에서 활동하고 있다.

 
Fanny Broder was born in Oslo, Norway, and grew up in New York City, where she earned her MFA in illustration from The Art Institute of Bostone. She describes her work as being heavily based on illustration, and she is also influenced by Japanese manga. His work is mostly based on his childhood memories, and he uses a lot of color. He uses flowers, rainbows, and patterns in his backgrounds, and he also writes text as he works. She calls herself a "beekeeper" and often incorporates flowers and little monsters into her work. His hobbies include yoga and meditation, and he weaves these activities into his paintings, creating otherworldly and magical places that he dreams about. Within her canvases, she explains that she takes care of nature in a very Buddhist way. She is currently based in Maine, New England, USA.

"제 그림에 대한 영감은 주로 어린 시절의 기억, 상상력, 그리고 저에게 중요한 것들에서 얻습니다. 현재 저는 화성인 같은 캐릭터가 다양한 요가 자세를 취하고 밝고 대담한 색으로 칠해진 일련의 작품을 작업하고 있습니다. 그림을 그리는 도중에 떠오르는 행성의 물체, 무지개, 꽃, 단어 등으로 배경을 채웁니다. 화성인은 어릴 적 상상 속 친구(영화 플린트스톤의 그레이트 가주)와 매우 흡사한 캐릭터)에서 진화한 캐릭터입니다. 그 캐릭터는 어렸을 때 힘든 시기를 극복하는 데 큰 도움이 되었죠. 저는 양봉가이고 제 작품에 꽃과 작은 괴물을 자주 등장 시킵니다. 요가와 명상은 제 일상입니다. 이 모든 것을 한데 엮으면 제 그림은 행복감을 주는 태피스트리 처럼 제가 꿈꾸는 다른 세상, 마법 같은 장소가 됩니다. 저만의 작은 세계에서 저는 매우 불교적인 방식으로 자연을 돌보고, 특히 아주 작은 생물을 사랑하며 벌레를 죽이는 것은 불운이라고 생각합니다.

- 작가노트中 -

'Inspiration for my paintings mostly comes from childhood memories, my imagination, and things that are important to me. Currently I’m working on a series of works that feature Martian-like characters posed in different yoga positions and painted in bright, bold colors. I fill the backgrounds with things like planetary objects, rainbows, flowers, and words that come to mind in the mid-stage of my painting. The Martian evolved from my imaginary friend from childhood (a character who looks very much like The Great Gazoo from the Flintstones). That character helped me through many difficult times as a child. I’m a beekeeper, and often include flowers and little monsters in my work. Yoga and meditation are my daily practice. Weaving all of these things together, my paintings become like this euphoric tapestry — an otherworldly, and magical place that I dream to be in. In my own little world, I take care of nature in a very Buddhist-like way; I especially love the tiniest creatures, and consider it bad luck to kill bugs.'
